'90 m42 into '84 318i(m10)
« on: August 28, 2008, 10:17:38 AM »
i just scored an m42 out of a 1990 318i. i want to drop it into my 1984 318i to replace the tired m10.

i dont want to swap the entire chassis harness out though.

i need to find a scimatic for the ecu harness wiring plug that connect to the fuseblock(15pin round on firewall) so i can wire just the engine into my existing fuseblock.

is this possible???

thanks for any/all help

thank you.   and sorry about the twin post, wasnt sure how big these forums were.

my buddy is gonna get me wiring diagrams of the 2 cars, he works at a garage, i think they have a computer program with a huge index of every kind of car...

so hopefully i can get this motor swapped in and up and running.  turning it over by hand the motor feels very tight, like it has good compression.  gonna do a comp. test and see what shape she's really in.

okay, didnt get anywhere with that link.

but, my friend works in a garadge and they have a computer program of wiring scimatics, so hes gonna get me the scimatics for the ecu harness/fuseblock connectors, so i can figure out what goes where.

ill tryin scan the scimatics, or write out the splices so others can have the m42 without re-wiring the entire chassis.
