Ok I fixed the major issue.. Now....
« on: June 15, 2008, 09:34:28 PM »
Ok so i got my timming done. I put everything back togethor. And it didn't start. It attempted tot hen died. So i got out and check everything out. Ok my question the hose running from the top of the valve cover to the lower intake should that be filled with gas? And i def know my air box should not have gas in it either. Also the little hose running from the fuel preasure regulator to the intake also has gas in it. Is my fuel preasure regulator bad? All of my air lines filled up with gas... Man this car is alot of work. If anyone can help me out ...AGAIN that would be great. I am almost sure the F P R is bad. But just want to check and see.

sounds like a regulator issue to me.  You could bypass some of the vacuum lines and go from the valve cover to the throttle body (bottom) directly, and then from the intake manifold to the ICV and the ICV to the intake plenum after the MAF... but the only place I would expect you could get gas in that system is like you say, the fuel pressure regulator which has the little tiny hose going to the throttle body.  I suppose you could try and rig a little catch can and prove it ;)

Its very possible you hooked up the fuel lines backwards and blew out the regulator. When you reverse the lines, the FPR cannot regulate pressure and you are then at the mercy of the fuel pumps dead head pressure which can reach up to 110-120 PSI. If the FPR diaphragm is weak, guess who wins.

I reversed the lines, I got very lucky and the regulator held, when I loosened the hose clamp the line blew off and sprayed accumulated fuel all over. The regulator made a very loud 'pop'. I should have been more careful. Luckily the regulator survived and I switched the lines correctly and the car started and all is good.

In your case It's pretty obvious the regulator popped and you are forcing pressurized fuel through the regulator vacuum hose into the intake manifold.

Be aware I am not saying your fuel lines are backwards, they very well could be though. You need to make sure at this point.

You got some bad luck dude, my sympathies. But your only a FPR away from getting it running again. Hopefully this will be the last of your difficulties.

Best Wishes.

Tell me about it. So is there any way to get this thing off? It's on there pretty tight.
