Interior Water Leak?
« on: April 05, 2008, 06:52:20 PM »
It's been raining here off and on for a week or so and I've noticed water dripping down onto the passenger footwell even when the car has not been running. Apparently there is  a leak of some sort perhaps in the cowl area. Anyone run across this before that can point me in the right direction?

Thanks
Don

I don't have any ideas as far as where the water is coming from. But from experience I know that if your carpet and the matting underneath is soaked, it will NEVER dry out unless you take it loose and get some air on it. It has no place for the water to go, and the foam pad underneath really sucks water up. It will begin to mildew and stink not long after it's soaked. Best bet is to remove the seat and the sill trim and elevate the carpet and matting then secure it somehow. Then place a small fan in there and leave it for a few days moving it around every so often. I hope you don't have to deal with this.

After posting my question, I checked a few other boards out and found the answer. On the passenger side firewall at the back corner of the engine, there is a drain tube that gets stopped up with debris. Just checked on mine and it was completely clogged. 5 minute job to take care of it. Now to dry out my carpet!!
