how to clean the ICV
« on: February 27, 2008, 06:26:22 PM »
i searched but couldnt find anything apparently ICV is too short of a search term, anyways how do you clean this thing, i took it out and sprayed some TB cleaner in the two openings, is that all you can do? no way to open it up, also the little black cap near the plug receptacle was loose so i opened and noticed one of the two pieces was loose, it is still attached by a thin wire inside of it however it is not firm like the other one, is this a problem?

I bust out some carb cleaner in the open ends.  Taking it apart is a baaaad idea.  Just blast it out, then drip in a tiny bit of lubricant.  Generally, the thing either works, or it doesn't.

I just cleaned my ICV this morning with TB cleaner and the idle problem was fixed completely for both cold and warm starts. Im pretty happy i managed to take it off and put it back on without having to remove the intake manifold as it is -20c (ambient) and i didn't want to be out there for any longer than i had to be.

I also just cleaned the ICV with TB cleaner and have no idle issues at all now. I had the intake manifold off so it was easier to do. I also cleaned the inside of the manifold and TB which really need to be done.
