I own 2 MB diesels. Yes, those group 49 batteries are great!
I dont feel that it is necessary, the car starts fine in cold weather... but between a slight lifter tick at very cold startup, a slight tc rattle at cold startup (despite new tensioner), and the fact that it is awful nice to have heat sooner, get the car into an ECU mode where it is more efficient, etc., I think the heater may be a worthy investment.
Whats the risk??? $50 and some coolant? Its worth a shot. Ive been reading of the benefits fuel economy related that have been noted by folks using an EBH even in temperate climates.
