Stock motor mount wear...
« on: April 11, 2009, 12:13:44 PM »
I want to regain and/or retai, the silky smoothness of new, stock motor mounts.  My 318i has 125K on it.   Do the mounts wear slowly, transmitting more vibration over time?  Or do they work perfectly then fail completely?  I'd be game for replacing my motor mounts with new if I could be assured the car would run smoother.  Thoughts?

Thanks, Gary

They fail slowly over time. The passenger side mount wears out much faster than driver side so you only really need to replace one.
Sold but not forgotten

This is whats wrong with your car.

Slowly wear out.

Mine were completely collapsed in the E36, and in went Polyurethane mounts.
