I bought a 91 318IS and got it running pretty good. No vacuum leaks but there seems to be water accumulating in the oil. No oil in the coolant however. My coolant levels havent seemed to have droppe dand the car does not run hot nor does it blow white steam out of the back. I seriously doubt that it is a BHG. Any ideas on where to check first? Are there any areas where coolant can pass through other than a crack somewhere? My old Porsche 924S had a bad oil cooler pressure relief valve that went bad and has similar problems but I am not familiar with the M42. Have had plenty of M20's and M50's as well as a couple M30's. hoping its something simpler than an engine swap.

Nevermind, thought it was gonna be bad, aparantley the guy I bought it from had the valve cover off for a month and im sure he had the hood open half that time. i flushed it real good, drove it for an hour and drained the oil again, not a drop of water in there so far. I'll keep an eye on it though, could still be that gasket , I will just have to do the old wait and see approach.
