Well, really, one of the many little things I did today.

Installed the trunk lid trim panel 51 49 1 916 246, just under $70 from BMA. Doesn't do squat, but it looks pretty.

I need to order more of the clips that hold it in, I didn't order enough for all of the holes.

And the thread size limits on images is killin' me....   :P

It's too bad these panels weren't included on assembly. Looks significantly better.

Are you detailing the car as well?

I am very happy with it - looks much better, and I love the fact that it was already cut out for the 2nd trunk light I added.

Trying out Forever Black on the trim pieces on the bumpers.  

From 10 feet, it looks great.  Up close (within a couple feet), though, you can see the 'brush marks' from the applicator.  Overall, a 6 out of 10.  It works, but not very well on the hard plastic bumpers.  Probably work fine on the black rubber bumpers on '80s American cars, but not on these.

You could go the euro trim route depending on the overall condition. FYI, there's a guy selling them on R3V for a great price.

Thanks for the tip on Blunt's sale - I'd planned on doing those anyway, that's a great price, so my timetable just moved up.

Forgive my ignorance...
"euro trim route"?

I've tried forever black too and had the same problem.  I spent longer getting it off (used 409).  There is a product called "vinylx" that does nicely, and I bought some of a similar (but cheaper) product called "Tim's vinyl dressing" or something like that from Pelican Parts that I like alot b/c  it does'nt shine or leave a residue.

BLUNT IS HAVING A SALE ON EURO TRIM????

(if you don't get it...)

euro trim is the four trim pieces on the front / back bumpers that deletes the sidemarkers. I have it... god willing I'll pass my NY inspection next year.

 That's funny, now that I go back and read it....

I've already got the sidemarkers that sit behind the wheel on the fender in my garage waiting for me to install them.  This just moves it to a front burner from the back one...

I've been contemplating the euro style side markers you're speaking of but I'm still uncertain if I want to drill my fenders.

What happens if something goes wrong :confused:

Very nice. I like the trunk lid cover. I'm even more impressed that I'm not the only one who's gone and put in a second trunk light. Makes sense to put the second one in.
I'm currently trying to work out how to put the lights from the E32 735's bonnet into the E30's. I have been able to work out a way of making it look factory.
Let us know if you come up with any ideas. I'm stumped.

I'm not familiar with those lights - got a picture of them?  That's been one of my gripes with the 3-series, no lights under the hood!

Those trim pieces are supprisingly inexpensive to replace, but they also generally hold up really well.  Mine look almlst like new except for one on the back bumper that I plan to replace soon.

Check BMA or BavAutosport for pricing.

I actually already have a set of the euro trim in the garage waiting to go on, but this has all moved to the back burner after the tow truck driver screwed up the car.  I'll post more on that in a separate thread.

I did that "mod" too.  The car should have come with 2 from the factory!
