looks like a nice project you have over there. I am planning to build a turbo as well. Currently i am looking for a E30 318IS engine, but they seems to be hard to find, at least here in Finland. I was offered yesterday a complete E36 318IS engine with wiring harness and Motronic box for 500€, don't know if this is a good deal or not. I am currently waiting for a car i bought from Germany. Decent examples are hard to find in my country, because they used to be quite expensive when new, so they are usually very poorly equipped; no sunroof, A/C, sportseats or M Tech II body kit etc. Most of them are usually also spoiled by teenagers who have installed massive bodykits/spoilers.
So i am looking for an extra engine to be build as turbo. My plans are build a bored & storked engine. I have loacted a M47 crank and most likely i am going to use Wössner turbo pistons like i have with my Porsche 951 3.0 liter turbo. Btw, what is the maxium bore which can be used on M42 engines? My Porsche 951 has a 3.0 litre 4-banger engine with 104mm bore.
I have a lot of Porsche 951 turbo left overparts parts laying around, so most likely i am going to use them as much as possible. For engine management i will use original Motronic with custom burnt chip. Most likely there will be also either SMT6 or AFM Link piggback boxes added so i can get rid of that flapper airflow meter. For ping/detonation i am going go use Porsches KLR box, which works together with Motronic. Also Porsche IC & KKK 27/6 turbo will be used. With these mods i am expecting to have about 220-250hp with 1bar boost.
