Hi everyone iv been looking and i can't find a post like it so im sorry if it is a repost but anyway. I heard that some people have advanced there intake cam by 5 degrees. So i have a few questions one. How much power gain can i expect? Two is there another set up that is better? And three can this be done with the stock cam gears? Any help would be good thanks

The stock cam gears are slotted from the factory for adjustment and come centered from the factory. Any measurable power gains with cam adjustment would be in one part of the RPM range or another. Usually you give up low end torque for top end power or vice versa. Any cam adjustments should be done on a chassis dyno. Few people mess with cam timing because its generally a small pay off for expensive time on a dyno. It doesn't make sense on a street car.

Cheers yeh i just moved and live like a few houses away from a dyno tuning centre now. ALRIGHT

. Anyways im soon to invest in chiping with a cold air intake and i thought if i get the car tuned i might as well get the cam gears done. If i were to go for it how much power would you expect to gain im thinking around 5 hp.

If done in conjunction dyno tuning and an aggressive chip you'll probably see a lot more than 5hp top end. Its just a matter of how much you are willing to sacrifice on the bottom end. Thats the beauty of modern variable valve timing engines. All the gains, none of of the trade offs. Good luck and please share the results.

it is better to retard intake cam if you want better top end.

Out of curiosity, what is the max advance that the stock cam gears can give?
