I replaced my brake light switch (located on the pedal stalk) with a used one from a 88 325i. Same part # but they use a little bit of a different metal bracket to mount. The used one is def in working condition.
Its connected with a 2 prong outlet at the back of the housing. The problem I now have is that it's working in the opposite of whats it supposed to. When the brake pedal is pressed down the the rear brake lights are off (the button on the switch is extended) and when there's no pressure on the brake pedal the lights are on (the button is pressed by the pedal stalk).
To those of you who have recently replaced this switch, how is it supposed to work? Button engaged/pedal disengaged = brake lights off... button disengaged/pedal engaged = brake lights on? (how i thought it would work) So far switching the wiring has done nothing. This is such a simple fix thats taking too long.
