Some problem in my 95 e36 b18
« on: August 15, 2019, 10:50:05 AM »
Hello i have some "problems" and questions about my m42b18 e36 would love if someone could help and give your support :p

1- i used liqui molly intake cleanner "decarb" and got a lot of black some some a lot of cleanning done BUT now my idle rpm is around 1100/1200 rpm. that happenned right after doing the cleanning.

2- how to adjust the afm for max performance and without a/f gauge? mine has been tweaked but i want to be sure of how it is.

3-i also tried to reset ecu but i think i couldnt do that.... i tried to unplug battery for 1/2hrs..  didnt notice any change and also tried to do it by the dashboard but my e36 doenst have the full onboard computer... only outside temp and time hehe

thanks for the attention :)

Rough/high idle after the cleaning could be attributed to leftover cleaner that needs to evaporate. Or perhaps a vacuum leak was introduced when parts were disassembled/reassembled.  Also, when the power is disconnected, the car will tend to run a bit rough until the ECU learns the adaptations.

There is no real way to accurately play with the AFM without a WBO2 sensor.  I wouldn't suggest tampering with it.
