E36M42 in e30: what to do after 70K km
« on: April 30, 2016, 09:36:05 PM »
It's been 70,000km since May 9, 2014 when my engine was last overhauled with new pistons, new con rods, new valves, bearings etc. The engine runs very hard doing 6500 rpm almost everyday.

What needs to be changed in the upcoming service?

1. PK belt has never been replaced. Is is necessary to change this along with pulleys?

2. the air flow meter does not seem to work properly. lately the engine tends to stall when idling when idling is erratic. many times it idles very high and periodically it just goes very low and tends to die. acceleration is also not steady and at times good and most times bad. I am tired of this constant headache and is there a way to get a new AFM to solve this problem once and for all?

3. the fuel economy is bad, returning only 9km/liter or less. this could be due to bad afm?

i think i wanted to give up on this car. it just isn't worth my while to maintain this anymore

thanks.
