*HELP* E36 WINDOW PROBLEMS!!
« on: March 31, 2015, 11:38:18 PM »
Hello M42 fanatics, I am new to these forums. I am currently having problems with my 93 e36 318is (coupe) my driver and passenger side windows do not roll down, the driver side clicks like you can hear the motor or regulator but will not budge and inch, also the window drop which seals the door to the seal does not drop down or raise up when the door is opened or closed like it is supposed to resulting in wind and rain to get into my car as well as my window rattling as I go over every single bump in the road. Next up my passenger window this one is quite odd the window lift function works perfectly when the door is opened or closed but the window itself will not roll down at all I can't hear a click coming from the regulator or motor itself yet sometimes it will roll down and when it does it automatically rolls itself up without me hitting the switch and then the door will start clicking over and over and over again without me hitting the switch which is very strange to me. I have check for power, fuses, and relays and I'm just stumped I have no idea what these problems could be please help! Sorry for the long write up and thanks for anytime and consideration.

if your windows are are going up/down when driving over bumps then i think your sensor that looks if the door is open/closed is worn.
when you close the door and your window stays open for about 4mm.. then try swinging your him against the door.. i know it looks stupid.. but if your window goes up for a second.. then that sensor is worn.
you can find the sensor inside the door locking mechnism, you find either the latch or the 'handle' to have signs of wear.

my car had this problem, i've added some glue to the worn part, filled it back into shape and problem solved.
it worked for at least a year... i now run polyesther doors :D
