Does anyone have any advise on getting the guides/sleeves out of the alternator? I've gt the bolts out but the sleeves won't allow the alternator to be removed.

Are you saying you took the bolts out and then tried to pull up on the alternator and it didn't budge? If so all you need to do is put a pry bar/long screw driver/what ever you got down between the alternator and the block i put a towl on it so not to scratch anything,  then you pry it away from the block this will get the top portion of the alternator free. To remove the lower portion rock the alternator back and forth ( Front of car to rear) it will compress and can then be removed by pulling the alternator straight up and off. If you want you can spray with pb blaster if things are really corroded/nasty to ease removal but its unnecessary.  When you re-install put the bottom in first and then rotate the top sleeve back into position and put your bolts back in. Dont be afraid to man handle it a lil into submission

Thanks for the info. When it's 5 degrees out, wind chill of -13, everything seems a lot worse than it is. I basically ended up doing exactly what you suggested. Someone has replaced the voltage reg and put screws in way to long. One broke off in the alt so now I need to drill it out and find proper length screws. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
