M42 Fuel Injectors
« on: October 15, 2014, 01:02:45 PM »
Hello!

After dealing with this ridiculous 1222 code, I decided to change out my fuel injectors (need replacing anyways after 300k miles).  I saw some on ebay for $80 a set of the rebuilt 4 nozzle "upgraded" injectors.  Anyone have any experience with replacing their injectors and what they used?  I already know I am going to have a hell of a time getting my throttle body off, dam clamps on the hoses are backwards and can't reach the flat head tensioner!

Hello,
Injectors shouldn't give you a 1222 code... It is a vac leak prob code.. Unless the stem seals are bad on the injectors, that could cause a vac leak. Anyway, the injectors you are talking of are prob a set of mustang injectors.. can you give me the Bosch number? If so, I can give you flow rates and stats...    Skid

I had a smoke test done and nothing was found.  I rebuilt the engine about 15k miles ago and did all new hoses etc.  The only things that are left that were not changed is the MAF, ICV, Injectors (some people say leaking injectors could be a sign), or possibly an electrical ground.  I'll have to check all my grounds to make sure everything is good before I give another MAF/ICV a shot.  Let me do some more testing to see.

Before buying another ICV you should try cleaning it.
