Hi, new member! m42 - m44 swap?!

Hi I'm Ed, and I'm now on my second 318is coupe. First one did 170,000 miles before selling it, so I bought another low mileage one as it had done so well. Well I've buggered the motor already, its dropped a valve. Picked up an engine on ebay but... its an M44!!

More about me, I live in Hitchin but my parents, and therefore engine swap HQ is in Leicester! I love my BMW's, always have done, I also like 1970's two stroke bikes, and currently have two 1979 DT175 MX's.

If any one could shed some light on the engine swap It would be greatly appreciated!

Did you consider a head rebuild instead?  Might be far easier...but if not, I posted in your companion thread.  Good luck & happy Xmas...
