New idea: Mod your heater blower motor!
« on: March 15, 2006, 03:42:49 PM »
So I'm looking for a used blower motor for my 318i because mine is chirping at me in the first three fan speeds.  Chirping blower motor FTL - for realz.

I saw this on on eBay:

Who actually paints a part that is buried in their dash?  Those crazy Brits...

That's my educated guess.  I can't think of anything else that would make a chirping noise that is related to the fan speed.

Writeup to follow.... when I get the time to do this procedure :)

Someone mentioned on another forum that potentially the pink is stock.  I've seen them black and white and shades of gray, but never pink.

Mine did the chirping, too. I've replaced it with one that blows my fuse if i run it in 4th fan speed. :( I'm going to have a look into that...

Mine chirped and randomly stopped so I bought a new one and it fixed the issue, yes the motor is the cause of the problem. Oh, and don't take off the little staples on a few of the blades, realized after we had it abck together that those were balancers. Never made a difference w/o the balancers, but just leave em on and don't get curious nad take them off like me.
