He got me by 5 cars. Not bad considering his 4.3 0-60 and 360hp V8 is substantially greater than my (i'm guessing here) 170rwhp 2.1L. By the numbers I am 530lbs lighter though. I think it is 2780 (E30) and 3300 (SLK55). But hey, it still made me feel good. I knew i'd lose but it wasn't that bad.

Unfortunately there is no video. The guy filming with his GoPro was behind us on our EuroSunday cruise.

Weight is everything, after torque. I'd think the SLK is tweaked for low-end acceleration for the US market...and is that the exact spec of the car you raced? I'm also surprised the Merc is that light, though many euro makes are pioneers with lightweight materials. Think of how much plastic is on our old cars?

plus also the fact that they are automatic so its kinda cheating as to no clutch work that we would do and the pause of acceleration during the action of switching gears... if it was a manual i bet you wouldnt be by that far of car lengths

A buddy of mine recently test drove a 2011 Cadillac CTS-V coupe.. about 550hp/tq.. superhcarged V8.

He said that he thinks my 318is with supercharged s52 could beat the CTS-V to 120mph no problem.. I looked at him like "WHAT?" The car is fast, but CTS-V fast..? That'd be a fun race though..

He knows his cars pretty well, and he's driven my 318is a bit, but I thought that was a bold statement..

it all depends on the driver... ive seen E30 M3's with a turbo charged s52 keep up with the porsche GT no problem... i also think that a supercharged s52 318is will also blow the doors off a caddi as well with the right driver and power to weight is very different... member that the number manufactures states are only the the crank and not the wheels...

sorry this is a s38 twin turbo motor on a E30 M3 but i think the price on the build would be the same

The Mercedes-Benz SLK55(mercedes amg parts) didn't seem to show the named "Magic Sky Control". As what I heard if you're just going to let numbers influence you in car-buying, then you must know the the SLK55 was just as quick as the V12 powered Aston Martin Mirage. It would have been a better car if it were not a folding hardtop. If the roof would just be regular, it could have been lighter. And also a hardtop would stiffen the car.
