Rear shock tower repair options
« on: June 14, 2012, 09:24:24 PM »
I picked up a '91 318is for my son's first car.  the PO lowered it and put a body kit on it and subsequently blew the motor and sold it.  the left rear shock tower has separated from the tub.  question is - do I just re-weld it or, purchase a new tower (sources?) and weld that back in?

The tower is not available separately.  Your best bet would be welding it back, maybe adding gusseting.

yeah, there is a part that reinforces the top where the shock fits that makes it a lot sturdier.  when you get it all together set it up with enough suspension travel so the ass dont get knocked out of it again

Right, the Z3 reinforcement plate is a good idea.
