AC Condensor support strength
« on: December 09, 2011, 03:30:42 PM »
So I have just removed my Condenser on my E36. My question is.

Is this piece structural to the strength of the front end? it mounts through the bumper shock absorbers and is pretty strong.

Is it ok to remove this?  Did the non AC cars come without one of these there?

it is the part in these two pictures that is a support going left to right, just in front of the radiator.

it is to the left of this bottom picture

Also does anybody know if the Bumper Core is aluminum or steel? it seems as though it could be aluminum. Anybody know for sure?

Thanks guys, i am doing an A2W intercooler setup, is why i am digging into the front of the bumper.

I don't really know for sure, but I'd suspect it's not really adding much rigidity.  The bumper support on my e30 is some sort of plastic composite, maybe glass-reinforced nylon.
