which injector to upgrade to?
« on: November 14, 2011, 02:08:43 PM »
i am in the middle of doing the mess under the intake and just picked up 2 sets of injectors the yellow ford v8s at 19lb and the light blue ford taurus 24v at about 22ish lbs.
the car is stock for now with a dinan chip to install and other slight mods down the road  (maybe a long road...) but i dont want to do this twice if i dont have to.
any reccomendations based on experience?
the yellows are a proven upgrade (280 155 700), has anyone run the blues ( 280 155 715) on a nearly stock car?
thanks in advance

The yellow modular V8 injectors work very nicely in mine.  I'd suspect that the blue ones might be a bit too rich.

agreed, but could i live with it for a while until maybe exhaust, intake and chip made it a little more appropriate?
also, i think i read that someone used the blues in a mild (5-7 psi boosted) setup? does that seem possible?

wow, i am so dumb. i just reread the sticky - i swear i read it about 3 weeks ago- and realized that i pulled all of the skinny injectors WITHOUT THE CLIP GROOVES!
am i correct that these will not work because they may pop loose? is anyone using these clipless injectors successfully?

I thought injectors with "150"   after "280"  were the direct fit?    I did see where somebody used a washer to hold the "155"  in place,  but personally, I'd get an injector that fits right, as they are as plentiful as the skinnies.
IMHO, you will be better off with the 19lb ones.  The others will be rich.  If and when you do other mods to the engine, then throwing larger injectors in wont be a big deal.

I have been using the yellow clip less injectors for 9 months without any problem. I was able to actually put the clips on. The owner of place that overhauls & sells the injectors said that the clips were not necessary. The yellow injectors are 3 generation injectors. Google the injectors on YouTube & you will see why they are better. My engine runs now "silky smooth"
I actually had 4 pintle original equipment BMW injectors on my engine & did not know it. The difference from these to the yellow ones was not much. The engine does run smoother with the yellow 3rd generation ones..

i just sort of had a "duh" moment. of course they dont need a clip since they arent made for one, nor did they have anything holding them into the taurus other than the 2 small nuts holding the fuel rail down. so, unless our fuel rail somehow provides less support than the taurus one does, then they should be fine. i really dont have much time left to drive her this winter, so maybe i will risk the 22.5 lb blues and if i dont like them, i have the winter to switch back...
anyone else have experience, good or bad, with the clipless ones?

155-710

I just upgraded the injectors to 155-710.  There is a big difference in the engine performance.  It idles and runs great.  Very happy with the change.  50
Bucks from the junk yard, cleaned them up from watching a youtube video. I did put the washers on the intake before the injectors were in installed.  No leaks on two tank fills.  If you can get the 150 series I would do it.:-)
