Adding fog lights to non fog light car
« on: July 28, 2011, 01:23:22 PM »
My 91 did not come with factory fogs so I want to add them.  I have the OEM lights and an OEM switch with a short harness.  What else do I need? Is there a harness already in the car that I plug into or do I need to run one?

Thanks

I found this thread...IIRC the fogs were offered as a dealer-installable upgrade, so the wiring should be there, even in the fuse box.

Seems like there might be two types of headlight switches?  Odd but not unlikely.  Seems like you need two fuses and a relay.  Is the harness there?

the plugs are gray, should have 2 sockets and behind headlights or dipped behind valence. You can check ETM for the wire colors.

Well after 4 hours I got mine done.  Would have only taken around an hour but the supposed OEM style fogs that i bought off ebay were a piece of crap.  The mounting holes were about 2 times too larger so I had to modify everything, the plug were not compatible with the factory plug so I have to create my own, the alighment screws and the hole int he lens did not match and one of them had to be glued because they would not steady up.  They were crap.

On a brighter note, all the harnesses were in the car and that part was easy (one I found the one behind the dash)

Yeah, the eBay fogs are complete pos's.  I ended up finding a set in a junkyard near here.  Now I just need a relay and mine will be good to go.

Anyone know if they need a special relay for the fogs?

IIRC it's an orange relay just like all the rest.
