Recalls & TSBs
« on: June 04, 2011, 08:05:04 AM »
I figured this would be a good place to post any recalls.  Granted, our cars are getting a bit long in the tooth, but these should be up-to-date and are still helpful.  All these links are from http://www.safercar.gov/ the NHTSA's official site.  It's not very easy to search, but it's better than nothing, eh?

For my '91 318i, only one safety recall and two more related campaigns:
Driver's knee bolster
Thermostat bypass, new rad cap
Airbag locking ring
Mine has a single recall sticker (though it's unreadable)...I'll post any updates if I actually get it done (I also can't wait to drive my antique past all those new BMWs I can't afford).

Two official TSBs:
DME corrupt memory chip
Brake light switch This effects what looks like every BMW made from 1990 to 1994...but isn't a safety recall!?!

Nine complaints, including the infamous M42 Profile Gasket, airbag & seat belt buckle.
