Valve cover baffle

Quick dire question.  I left the valve cover in the parts washer overnight and discovered that there is a baffle on the upper (towards the intake) area.   This would be where the gases collect to go from the valve cover to the TB area.  Unfortunately, I discovered there is a removable panel there and it has a large rubber gasket.  I couldn't find this gasket on any parts list.   I am running into a time crunch at this point and was wondering if that baffle was critical and if it was, could I do without the rubber gasket and just use black rtv to seal it to the underside of the valve cover?

Btw, when ordering the valve cover gasket, be sure to also order the spark plug gaskets of which there are 4.   11121721476 x 3 and 11121721475 x 1.  Mine were leaking pretty good resulting in lots of oil down in the spark plug wells.

If I recall correctly, which I probably don't, that is an emissions related dealio.  If you need one ASAP, call local independent shops near you nad see if any of them have an M42 valve cover laying around that you can canibalize the parts from.  If you were in San Diego I'd hook you up from my spare.

I didn't realize that one of the spark plug gaskets was different from the other three.  Which one is different?  I got a kit that included all of the gaskets plus the gaskets for the nuts on the outside of the valve cover.  I hope to paint my spare cover and install it this weekend, we'll see.

I'm going hit the local yard to find a cover.  If it's not there then I will just RTV the baffle I have.

Try to use a high-quality RTV that can deal with fuel & oil.  Don't want that coming loose, eh?

I couldn't find one in the junkyard, so I removed the bloated gasket (DOH!) and rtv'd it down.  It also has 7 (8?) small screws that hold it down.  I didn't loctite those down, but snugged them well so they won't come out and drop down into the rockers and springs.  That would suck.
