Crazy idea: butchered m50 inlet manifold?
« on: October 12, 2010, 05:29:19 PM »
Hey guys,

Has anyone thought of trying to fit the m42 with a butchered M50 inlet manifold? I'm thinking that it may fit seeing as the cylinder head of an M42 is essentially a 4 cylinder M50?

Judging by pics it seems the port size and spacing appears to be the same with the exception of the m42 inlet ports having additional port space for injector firing up the top.

Has anyone thought to cut 2 inlet ports and sealing the m50 manifold to make it fit an m42?

Why? Anything can be done, but I see no way that doing this would add anything to the car, other than "uniqueness."

Smoother inlet porting and possibly better flow. You're right as there may be limited gains but was just wanting to ask if it had ever been done!

this was discussed years back, the ports are shaped differently and by the time your done with modifying and redoing everything you are better off spending the money on something else like a custom manifold and a programmable ems
