After finding and much reading of this web site I have decided that I need some help. At at the end of my short wire! Sorry about this being a bit long.
This started out as a fuel pump issue...or so I thought. I turned the engine off, went into the store and in less than 5 min later no start. I discovered that I had no fuel pump power. I have changed out the relay and that didn't work either.
So I jumpered out ther fuel pump (30 to 87) and it works fine. So then I started the process of checking the fuses, relays and wires. Didn't find any issues there. But I'm not pulling in the fuel pump relay. I jumpered the fuel pump relay (pin 85) to ground and the fuel pump comes on. That means that I'm not getting a ground through the DME to the fuel pump I think. Since this is an OBD 1, I put the code diagnostic checker on and it showes no faults. I jumpered the fuel pump out and the fuel pump is running but I not getting any ignition. So my next step would be to get a new/ used DME but they are expensive
So I need more experiance at this than I have. Can the DME be bad and not show a code? Is there another way to check the DME? I'm checking the DME connection to ensure that the groungs and the wire from the fuel pump to DME is good but I don't see a reference to where pin 1 on the plug is. Any thoughts or help is appreciated.
UPDATE: I checked the crank and cam sensors and they both check good.
