Passenger Side window-Help!!
« on: March 08, 2010, 09:09:12 AM »
I have been wondering why my passenger side window for my 1991 318is wouldn't operate...I removed the side panel, the weatherproofing(felt like a sticky mouse trap) and discovered that my motor wasn't connected...So I connected it and it operated well...The window was wedged in place....However, the regulator assembly doesn't match up to the window that I have for the passenger side....The window on the passenger side looks like your standard 91 318is window with the 2 small tracks on the extreme left and right side of the window....The passender side window lifting rollers are close to the middle of the window and won't reach the far ends of the window track...
I then pulled the driver side panel off to examine it and it had the same window lifter as the driver side but a different window...The bottom edge had 2 roller tracks closer to the middle and the bottom edge of the window was flat  and not like your typical 318is window that has a tab near the engine side of the window and the 2 roller tracks on the extreme edges...Where can I find a flat bottomed window like this with the center roller tracks? I have looked in realom and cannot find it...
Also, how in the world do you put the rollers in the track to begin with???
Do I have an incorrect lifter on both doors???
Help...
-John

I think that the realoem drawing is incorrect as far as what the window looks like....I sa a left window removed from a car on ebay and it is identical to my left window but doesn't match the realoem drawing nor the right window that I have. The right window that I have was a replacement wedged into place..
