BMA, Pelican, wherever you can get the best discount. I would use an OEM part, though.

Panel is only held in by six bolts, but they are tricky to get to if you don't know how to pull the liner back.

Best source I have found for those instructions is http://e30.bmwdiy.info/sunroof-adjust/index.html

If you go by the repair instructions, yes. But it can be done while in. And to access the rear part of the seal, put the panel in the tilt position.

Hi there, I can't agree with the above. To dismount the roof, open it about 10-15cm backwards, then pull the inside masking upholstery pulling it's front edge down, there are some bolts which will just release the masking upholstery. Once this is done, pull the whole fabric with a steel frame inside the roof, to back of the car. And... close the roof. You will get the access to the 6 as I remember bolts which were discusssed higher.

All I can say is that You should tilt after the masking is removed backwards.
You are unable to remove the part completely without dismounting the whole roof.

The information may be not really precise as I was dismounting it 3-4 years ago, but it should give You the right idea. In case of any problems, I will check it to give You right answers.

Yes my friend, the roof is tricky. Anyway You should dismount and mount in warm place to avoid plastics damage.

As always, I've read the linked article after answering the question... The article seems to be better because it has photos... Anyway You should be able to do anything You want with this aid. :-)

FYI the seal is not a water seal. only wind and debris.
