window issue.
« on: January 26, 2010, 04:32:38 PM »
Ok so i bought a new/used window motor and regulator attach everything and the window doesnt move so my next step is to change the window button o fyi its a coupe anyway buttons changes now movement....getting irritated so i go check the fuse number 14 if am correct the fuse is good.... so i consider reading the a hanes manual and i dont see anything about any relays that route to the window motor. So i begin to check for continuity in the wires, all the wires get power except the grey wire with the red stripe couldnt follow it didnt know were it went so people of m42 club am confused i did everything i though possible:confused:so help

I'm not sure what car you have...post it in your sig...maybe with your location too...I'll guess it's an e36 iS.

I have to admit I have no idea...but a quick search pulled up this page...he says that wire is the lock sensor wire.  That bit about a sensor ring in post 1 seems likely.

Not to be a smart ass, but I'll stick with me e30s old fashioned wiring for now.

I think I've got a similar issue to yours.  I've got a 93 318I (sedan version of yours) and for me now none of my four power windows are working.  Motor is intact and functional, and fuses are good as well.  I'm currently in the process of checking the wires for continuity but im fairly certain its the same issue.
