Clock acting funny....
« on: January 26, 2010, 10:13:41 PM »
Recently... my clock has been acting strange.  At times it will just cut off and then randomly come back on (time settings etc lost)  The buttons stay backlit even when its not working.  Also, I've noticed that when its not working the gong seems to act funny too (maybe not related)  I've checked the connector and cant find anything unusual with it.  I'd hate to think its gone bad because it has a perfect LCD still (no blob)  Any ideas?  Wiring? Clock? Cluster??

I have one with a bad LCD if you want to swap parts to check.  It's a lot of work for a clock, but I'd try it myself.

It does seem like a lot of work for just a clock, but for some reason it just drives me nuts!

They are really easy to take out and to take apart. Definitely worth the trouble.

+1 one the bad LCD. Grab one from the junk yard or buy a known good unit from someone on the board.

I'm trying to get the one from DD with the bad LCD, since my LCD is good. I'll just swap over the good LCD (hopefully).  I borrowed a clock from a friend and it worked fine, so its probably something internal.
