« Last post by Sjokolademelk on May 10, 2024, 05:07:26 PM »
Hey guys, i have a simple question
Bought my lemon car with a rebuild needed, so i bought a 2nd hand m42 from e30 and it came wirh a e36 DME, i think? (Bosh 0 261 203 590)
The car runs and all is «fine» just having some trouble with misfires and car dying out. So i just wanna make sure they work the same and all
Anyone know?

Perhaps nobody will ever read this but for what its worth i did this MUTI delete on my first e30 318is, and on my current one (going for sale next year) i will be replacing everything as from the factory with new parts. Installing some hokey hoses and not having it fit factory, as well as zero benefit from deleting the TB heater plate, is not worth it to me. However, if you wanna do it, its easy when youre in there

Im just redoing this again and im going full oem parts with the system intact. I cannot get the fricken upper manifold off for some reason. And theres no guidance except a dead link. Gonna try again tomorrow. My last 318is i could take it all down in 10 mins i did it so many times. Dont know why im struggling this time

Hi I am alittle different in I am a 47 year old woman starting to learn about mechanics.

I needed to buy a car but felt everything out there is very expensive and not as reliable as older cars.plus I like to be different and there are alot of cookie cutters similar bodies out there.

I bought a 1973 Opel gt that is a rolling chassis but has everything.  I decided the engine and transmission in it won't cut it so I bought a 2003 k1200rs.  I am hoping the bellhousing on the motorcycle engine will bolt up to a getrag 240 or similar standard rwd transmission from BMW but I'm not an expert.

I'm hoping to find a supercharger to make it look like a blower on-top of the hood.  The Opel has a very small engine bay but after installing everything it will drop around 250-300kg so a 200hp BMW motor in this German made mini corvette should be fast, light making it great on gas and look better then alot of new cars out there.  If anyone is able to tell if th motor matches up with a BMW or Audi transmission it would help alot

Hello everyone!

I have a 1994 BMW E36 318is coupe manual M42 with the Mtechnic package (1 of 79 here in Australia) and have been going through the process of supercharging with the Hyde Motor Works MOAB kit and wanted to share my process and eventually my results!
I post regularly and go live on TikTok assembling bits and pieces on there. @Superchargede36
https://www.tiktok.com/@superchargede36
https://hydemotorworks.com/

Firstly, what you are probably quite interested in, specs!

Engine (was built by JHH Racing in Australia):
CP-Carrillo Pistons 84mm Low comp
CP-Carrillo Connecting rods
Stock M42 Crank
MLS Gasket (Not sure on thickness)
ARP everything
Performance Bearings
Compression ratio 8.5:1
Serviced head but stock
M44 intake manifold
RHD SMF
Heavy Duty M20 Clutch rated for 360ft/lbs

Flex Fuel system:
255lph Walbro pump
1:1 Fuel Pressure Regulator
980cc Bosch Injectors
all rubbers swapped for flex fuel
(In the process of doing this^^^)

Supercharger:
Type 2 SC14
80mm Hyde Motor Works pulley
Medium sized intercooler
should push about 10-12psi after the intercooler loss

Other misc about the car:
E46 Purple tag steering rack
BC Racing BR Coilovers
M3 x brace
Reinforcement plates front and rear shocks
Strut Tower strut bar
E46 330ci front brakes
E46 330ci Front slotted rotors
Stock 318is rear brakes
E36 Slotted rear rotors
Brembo Pads
Short throw shifter
Small case diff which I will be swapping to medium case
I am keeping the Getrag 220 for now and will be upgrading to ZF later this year when the bank account allows me to lol. It should be fine.
Baffled Catch can (to be installed)

Other than that the process has been mostly straight forward considering I was assembling the engine bay from scratch (Pics are attached). For this installation converting to the m44 manifold is preferred and converting to the m44 mebelt tensioner is also recommended. So if you have a M44 it will be a easier install. Otherwise it's just a matter of stacking pulleys ontop of one another. I have deleted the charcoal canister, and will delete the throttle body heater plate.

The Supercharger is belt driven via a pulley on top of the steering pump, with a added pulley on top of the existing one on the tensioner and then a final idle pulley mounted on the bracket near the strut tower side. The bracket mounts via the two alternator bolt holes and goes on top very snugly. All of this is demonstrated on my TikTok or the HydeMotorWorks Guide on YouTube.

Within the next few days I will have the belts and pulleys all done and should have the charger mounted properly. I will then move onto my fuel system to install the pump, regulator and injectors.

I will keep you updated!

Engine + Driveline / 1995 E36 318is Idle Issue
« Last post by Dexterperkins69 on March 30, 2024, 09:56:59 PM »
Hello everybody i recently just got back into fixing my e36 as it has just been sitting in the garage for about 9 months yikes. The main issue that i am experiencing is the idle. Whenever I start the car it'll idle very rough and die within 10 seconds but on the 3rd or 4th start it will idle basically perfect at around 900-1000 RPM. This will happen on cold and warm starts. When the idle does run smooth i'll rev it up to about 3k Rpms and it'll drop back down to about 1100. Although sometimes it does go back to orignal 900-1000 Rpms. I really don't know what the issue could be because when the car does idle fine it sounds great. Any help would be great and if my explanation isn't the best i am sorry It's Very hard to explain over text.
