thank you for the answers.. I am getting the fault codes by prompt test but I am searching this tool to gel real time information about the sensors.. anyway.. it seems impossible with this tool, I guess..

I am planning to get this tool to see each and every detail about what is going on in the ECU?? but the question is I think it is for OBD II cars.. will it work on DME 175 on an m42 engine?

now, if you ever used this tool, do you suggest it or is there an alternative diagnose tool I can use...?? I prefer it be cheaper.. :D

by the way I heard there is a tool that I can use with bluetooth on an android mobile phone...

Any information wellcome..thanks alot..

My dear friends,

I have an eaton m90 kit from a thunderbird and I have finished mounting the SC on the engine all the drive belts and pipes are ready. the setup is:

Air filter / AFM / Throotle body / Supercharger / Air intake manifold / engine   the by pass valve combines the before and after the SC..

after we did the setup and start the engine, we saw that the engine did not start if you do not press the acceleration pedal.. and of course it did not idle and the engine stopped. and the AFR is 22.0 most of the time. some times it comes about 16.0 than goes up again. we have used 13 cm SC pulley just to play it safe we want 0.5 bar boost but these are not important issues for now..

Now, my guess it that the problem is about ICV connections.. one side goes to air intake and the other is after AFM just before Throttle body... here is a picture that I drew to show what goes where...

so, where is our mistake?? As I know while idling there is no boost that goes into engine in this setup so it should have idled fine. our problem is either in ICV and where the pipes connects or it is a bypass problem?? by the way from where the bypass valve gets vacuum? just before the supercharger or from the intake manifold??

thank you for your help in advance...

I have an AFR and it says the mixture is OK.. around 14,6..  but what you said is true.. when the car warms up, it accelerates wonderfully..

and I think if there is a leak in somewhere most probably the idle will not be straight and I have a perfect idle both when its cold and hot..

I'd be tempted to take a quick look at the injectors to be sure they're working well.  for a quick & easy test I use a long screwdriver - put the tip on an injector and then put the handle into your ear.  You'll hear a very distinct clicking if the injector is working perfectly.  Alternatively, you can pull injector pigtails to see if you have a dead injector, but that's very difficult to do on an M42.

I'd also be wondering about the injector drivers in the DME, wiring faults, dead O2 sensor, that sort of stuff.  It might also be something simple but hard to track down like a bad DME ground or failing main relay.

Did you try a stomp test?

there is no fault code recorded in the DME... and the thing you recommended about the injectors is really hard to control for me but I use LPG on the car so if the injectors do not work this will affect my LPG system since it gets the informaton from the first injector that applies it to others..

but thank you for your advice.. if I find a way I will also check the injectors..

Anything with the gauges not working sometimes is related to the cluster. Either a ground is loose or the boards are going bad. If the SI board is going bad due to bad batteries or the board itself having contact issues, you can see symptoms everywhere on the instrument except the temp and fuel. Those are independent and receive the signal directly from a sensor. So it can be the ECU but my bet it is due to the something in the instrument cluster. Mine does it once in a while and I know my SI board is bad as I can't reset any of the SI lights. I replaced the board over 4 years ago and out of warranty, so now waiting for $$ to fix it again.

everything is fine with the cluster I mean the IS bord should be fine since I can reset the lambs.. and my bet is on the instrument cluster or maybe a ground since sometimes it comes and goes..

I know that issue about the sensor on the diff but everything is fine I mean the speedo works well.. the only thing is the econo gauge even the lights on the gauge works fine...

the point is if that gets the info from the ecu and think about the times it does not work, is this a sign that something goes wrong in the engine or Ecu part? and may this be about my power loss when the ecogauge does not work??

no actually I tried hitting the dashboard for a couple of times but no response again..

I use my car everyday.. and in the first start in the mornings, the gauge comes and goes and hesitates before I move.. when I start driving the car it stops at the left side and doesnt come until it wants to work again..

I have learned that it gets the info from ECU so, if there is nothing in the harness, the problem is from the ecu.. do you know the pinout it gets the info from??

another thing is if the car gets hot after like 30 km, and if you stop and restart the car it starts working... may it be about the cold or hot start??

My dear friends,

I have been working on the car for about 2 years and I almost renew everything..

The last thing I realized was the economy gauge on the clock that shows mile per galoon..

when I first start the car in the morning, it works for one minute that it stops working.. then like 30 or 40 km later the gauge starts working again

The important point is the car also starts pulling well with the gauge starting to work..

The questin is "From where this economy gauge gets its information?? where should I look to make it work all the time??

Thank you in advance..

General Topics / E30-E36 Chamshaft position problem??
« on: February 18, 2013, 12:27:47 AM »
Here is the answer... NO! it seems nothing changes but in a few days the injector's timing changed from 3,40 to 1,92 which made the fuel consumption worse with no power gain...

so I put the old one on but I am sure it doesnt work...

I have ignition fires all the staff with no code on DME.. but I am suspicious of the timing because of CPS that is why I tried the replace CPS.. and the question is lets remember :D does E36 CPS work on E30??

I have an AFR and it says 14,6 most of the time..

How can I be sure about the failing coil driver in the DME??

yes it has.. I have changed the whole exhaust system and also put a catalytic convector.. I should try the second idea: cleanng the connectors but what do you mean by "all"? the ones about the sensors???

How are you gauging it acceleration or lack of? I would suggest checking timing, and double check that you are getting good fuel flow if you feel there is a loss of power.

Firstly I compare it with with my previous m42 and then I compare with most of the cars on the road and mine shouldnt be like this.. in my previous m42 I would feel the seat on my back when I was accelarating...

I have checked lots of things including timing and fuel pressure.. the repairmen (not one repairman) said there is noproblem with those issues.. I have tried another AFM, put on new O2 sensor and lots of thing.. the last thing was chamshaft position sensor but I am not sure whether it is the same sensor since the plugs are different but the numbers on both sensors are same..
