Pelican parts sells a metal impeller one for a reasonable price. they also have the water pump super kit. I guess for super peace of mind?

Suspension / Power steering question...
« on: August 05, 2007, 12:19:29 PM »
Just take off the pump, reservoir, and lines, block off holes in rack with some plugs from a local hardware store (forgot sizes) and enjoy. I've been running without power steering for awhile now and don't miss it. Some times i think it was a dream that i took it off.... lol. Really not much of a difference

Thank you 2002 maniac for understanding my thoughts on the subject. If memeory serves me correct, and believe me i am not speaking with the confidence of jesus, but i think that the CAST IRON SUPERCHARGED 3.8 from gm weighs more than the superb ls2. I think the ls2 may actually weigh less than bimmers sixes... but a 3.8 swap is nonsensical in my opinion.

BY the way tjts1 i was knocking the weight of the 3.8, not your precious lsx i actually like those motors.

Yea.... go with the ls2 if anything. Honestly I think a 3.8 would be in contradiction to the 318is nature... Light and tossable... Seeing as the only 3.8 supercharged motors have a cast iron block. I'm pretty sure the ls2 weighs less.

Here, we love out m42's. And we love our special M42 club. If we swapped in a 3.8 we would never get to realize the dream of maybe oneday walking down the street in our M42 club jackets and having hell's angels piss there pants.... Because we wouldn't be in a special club anymore. Besides, we are WAY more mature than those OTHER forums

outer boots torn, looked forever and ever for an outer boot kit only to learn nobody sells one.... so i started pricing new cv shafts around the time it started making a clicking noise... I figured what the hell... and went all out on anything involved with my suspension. woo hoo. Now all i have to do is pay my credit card back down. lol

It's black to hide an supposed impact with parking curb (courtesy of po) :( It will probably be red when replaced....

The flywheel is actually pretty nice. Only cost 499 from bmp, Idle isn't all that much rougher, and did not require a chip to keep idle the same. Definately easier to rev-match properly. All you have to do is think about what rpm you want. Good money spent i think.

At the moment i'm considering sticking with the 14"s .... Not sure if i want 17 inch rims. Roads in south carolina aren't that great...

Electrical / Electric Fan
« on: July 26, 2007, 02:33:20 PM »
Thanks old timer... yea i ripped out all related ac components and just wired the aux fan to a switch so i flip it on when i'm not moving, but i think my fan clutch is on the way out.... so in my never ending quest for a clean engine bay i figured why not slap the electric one on. Maybe the autozone one might work... We have a commercial account there so, maybe i'll get a sweet deal...

Ok.... All very helpful... Going to junk yard today... turns out i can get spals at a nice discount...probably will go that route... Love working at an autoshop... commercial accounts everywhere. lol. Will the spal temp switch Thread into our fitting? i think the spal is 3/8"npt. If not i will just wire it to the switch and try not to forget..... lol

Electrical / Electric Fan
« on: July 25, 2007, 06:50:22 PM »
Ok, I've looked at all the previous posts on this subject but have not found this answer, soforgive me for bringing it up again. But, if i switch to an electric fan how much air does it need to move (cfm)? The 16" ones from autozone and pep boys only seem to move 1200cfm. Is that enough to stay cool? thanks
