Off-topic discussion / doubt about M3 offset control arm bushings for E30
« on: December 18, 2009, 10:52:55 AM »
Hi, I need to change my front control arm bushings, can I use the M3 offset bushings without replacing the control arm?, will they fit?
Anyone know the part number?
Thanks

Engine + Driveline / doubt about chip
« on: June 11, 2007, 10:19:16 AM »
Excuse my ignorance. When I bought my 318Is 3 months ago, the previous ownwe did mention that he had a new chip on the car. Where exactly is the computer chip in the car, so that I can check what exactly I have?.
Sorry guys, my knowledge of these cars is very limited.

Sheepdog, do you mean that I should let the new tensioner expand, and then fit it?. Not sure if that is what you mean?.

Engine + Driveline / timing chain tensioner
« on: June 08, 2007, 03:08:23 AM »
I actually do not know if the timing chain tensioner was ever changed, I have owned my car for just 3 months, so it probably has not been changed ever, as I said the car has 130000kilometres on the clock, but the noise completely disappears after about 5 minutes, if as it seems changing the tensioner is a 10 minutes job, I might as well do it, I will check the oil pan in the next oil change as well, in about 5000k.

Engine + Driveline / low pitched rattling
« on: June 07, 2007, 03:10:18 AM »
Hi, when I start my car and during about the first 5 minutes of driving, I can hear a low pitched rattling noise from the engine, this noise dissapears completely after about 5 minutes driving, I suppose it is normal as the car has 130000kilometres, I assume it disappears once the engine gets to operating temperature, the noise is very slight. Is this normal?. Apart from that the car drives great, I will post some pics of it during this week

General Topics / doubt about brake fluid
« on: May 30, 2007, 04:53:00 AM »
I have recently had my brake fluid changed in my 318IS, I believe it was replaced with DOT5 fluid, somehow I seem to recall that the M42 uses DOT 4, could I have any problems with the DOT 5 fluid, the guy that replaced it says it does not make any difference?.

Hi, about 2 weeks ago I installed a new battery in my 318is, after 4 days without using the car, the battery drains completely, If I jump start the car, it starts ok, any idea where I should start looking?.  It has happened twice already.

I don't actually know the answer to your question! But if it turns out yours has been removed, and you still have the PS rack, I'm pulling my PS stuff off soon if you're interested. Don't know where you're located, but it'd be easy to ship.

thanks for the offer, i was just curious. After reading the posts I will ask a friend of mine to look out for a Z3 rack, as he spends a bit of time in junk yards. Thanks for the input
