this pretty much happened to me. Bought my m42 from a guy on CL. He advertised at $3600 and i walked away with $510. Good for me, right?
It seemed to run fine but i need it to the shop..........$3k later.
Bottom line - pay more to buy from an enthusiast. The end

Hey guys, i have a 91 318i. If i press on the clutch pedal, a weird grinding sound can be heard and i can even feel it on the pedal. What can this be and how much will it cost to fix? thanks

i had a B6 (2003) A4 1.8t quattro for a few years. It was all reliable except for the coil packs which were known problems (service bulletins). But other than that, it was pretty reliable.
For the record - Audi 1.8t's come FWD and AWD.
