Use an air gun to release the nuts before you jack up the car. There is a high chance the damper will spin, but it shouldn't be an issue.

I've got a 3.91 in mine. Seems to be just as quick as the 4.10, but about 300 less RPM at highway speeds. I don't think I would go with any other gear though, unless most of your travels are on the highway.
Also: Any advice as to whether it's a BAD idea to run track tires on the street. Note that I am not worried about rapid tire wear and the car will not be driven in the rain so wet condition driving is not a concern of mine. My main concern is around whether the steering will hunt excessibly while going down the road, loss of comfort, noise, etc. thanks for input/advice
