they seem very cheap for all 4 with arp bolts. i realise standard rods bolts must be uprated when making a higher reving engine, but are aftermarket conrods worth doing too, when will standard rods usualy fail, cos i'd like 8000-9000rpm really.

you can see in the pics that the itbs on the m3 are pointing up in the up (so the curved trumpets fit ok) but on my M42 the itb point (almost perfectly) sideway,

will it work with the trumpets cos there the the as i had to start with,
(on an E30 it may be different) but the trumpets where usless on my with M3 evo ITB's cos they just hit the alternator

its quite close see, cos the angle of the inlet ports on the head is different to the M3 heads,

idealy i would of thort an easy plenum design would be this

kent and piper cams told me that with hyrdo lifters (which i was planing to keep) i could only have an off the shelf cam, maybe 12-18bhp gain, but with solids i can have what ever duration what ever lift ect ect and gain alot more bhp

Swaps, Turbos, Buildups / what pistons do i get? and where from
« on: June 30, 2007, 05:52:51 AM »
i'd like some 87mm pistons for my M44 bottom end, (to make it 2L) but where my best place, and idealy cheapest place? i'd like high compression ones too if its possible, maybe 11.5-12:1, what do you recomend, i'd like to stick with the M44 rods and crank.

theres my baby, my M44 bottom end should be with me later today and i can start work on it, so i have a 2L bottom using the M44 crank and rods, but a wider piston so it will still be quite short stroke, nice and revvy :D. i have a gasflowed head, custom (home made) exhaust. i'd like around 215-220bhp once i'm all finished but i know thats a while off yet.

what i have always been told tho, (by kent cams and piper cams) that with the standard TB and a really wild cam the car would be terrible, really rough ect, but they said with ITB;s you can run virtualy a race cam and still be ok for road use.

i would have thort it would be better to go for solid lifters, then you can run a much more wild cam.
