Engine + Driveline / Re: M42 Oil Sump Change
« on: December 10, 2013, 11:16:58 PM »
No lifting or tilting is req,d if it is only the lower oil pan being replaced. I just did mine. the holes for the bolts just might req a retap as did 5  of mine. very easy to so and get to.

I use green and have no problems. As stated above that is a problem of the past.

Engine + Driveline / Stripped bolt
« on: February 15, 2012, 12:43:33 AM »
Im not sure if I understand what you stripped, the bolt or the threaded bolt hole that it threads into. If it is the bolt , buy a replacment of the exact thread pitch & size. If its the bolt hole buy a heli coil kit that is sized to fit the orignal bolt and use it. I would not start using JB Weld on the car if you havent already!!! Good luck.

Engine + Driveline / Problems after Mess Under Intake...
« on: February 14, 2012, 11:48:15 PM »
Your lower intake manifold may not be seated aginst the head. Use an inspection mirror and look along the interface between this manifold and the head to see if you have gasket showing, also look for carbon burns from leaking exh gases due to back firing taking place at the point of the leak along this manifold/ head interface. Good luck.

Engine + Driveline / First high idle and now no start issues
« on: January 25, 2012, 12:23:59 AM »
Take an inspection mirror and look under the intake manifold to see that the intake manifold has seated flush with the head from end to end. Sounds like a large vacuum leak. Opps, I didnt read all of the posts, you found the problem. Grt.

Engine + Driveline / Head Gasket Kits?
« on: January 25, 2012, 12:18:33 AM »
I did this back in Oct 11 and the main key is to pay attention to the small details as you progress along. I also bolted th header to the head before installing it all as one onto the block. I used the VR gasket kit and had no problems at all. It was so quick. Good luck!!!

Engine + Driveline / E30 Oil Change...
« on: January 03, 2012, 11:30:32 PM »
+1 on this. The worst has to be my Porsche 944 and 951 oil filters. The stupid thing is rightside down, as you unscrew it the trapped oil within it pours out all over the place. A huge mess to clean up each oil change!! Madness!!!!
