To bump an old thread. Just crossed 110,000 on a working odometer. Replaced the gears with RC car gears a week after it stopped turning.

Small update. Needed something to haul the bikes around on. Its currently at 100,700 miles. Bilstein HDs should be here on Friday, along with a bunch of new bushings. I'd be tempted to throw on some e30 M3 springs if anyone has a set lying around. Not interested in slammage, I see rough roads too often.

Electrical / Temp gauge dancing, stays low (1/4 mark), idle issues

Sorry to return a thread from the dead, but this is driving me nuts too.
My temp gauge does exactly the same thing, and I've checked the nut on the back of the gauge as well. I've also recently replaced the radiator and thermostat.
Did you ever find a fix?

Its been oh, three years or so since I've taken any pictures of my car, but I woke up way too early today and figured I'd go out front and snap a few.
7/90 build date, I'm the 2nd owner. It had 78,000 miles on it when I got it in February of 2007, and is at 97,500 today, approaching the big 1-0-0
To be fair, I was out of the country for a long while and it wasn't driven a whole ton. The wheels are 15x6.5" 3pc OZ Vegas with the oh-so-hard to find intact center caps. No other mods, maybe when I get some free time.
The exterior. It has lots of battle scars from the previous owner. He kept great maintenance records, but couldn't drive worth a damn.
The interior, aside from a horridly cracked up dash that I hide with a fuzzy cover, looks factory fresh. Unlike the paint.

That, or they got the power wrong. Tuner magazines regularly get details wrong, whether it be power numbers or mods. I suppose magazine don't regularly see the amount of outspoken criticism that a forum does over what could be considered a small mistake.

I had tried window cleaner, simple green, just plain scrubbing. Nothing, no improvement. Twenty minutes with PlastX...

Update: No more steelies! 15x6.5" 3-piece OZs now. I've already emailed Kodiak for a quote on wider polished outer barrels 
Of course, if I do that I'll need suspension, and then I'll really need to get an IS lip...it never ends. And yes, the purple tint needs to go, and will in a week or two here.

The tint was 5%, and no, I couldn't see out of it :p It was fine during the day but at night it was a real problem. I had planned for a long time to have the front stuff pulled off and replaced with 20%, never happened.

I've wanted one of these for a few years now. Ideally I wanted a red 1992 318ic with a black top and tan interior, but when the opportunity to save this one came along I had to take it.
This car had belonged to my boss since new. He bought it off the lot in 1992 and every time the car was serviced he shoved the receipt in the glove box. I have a massive pile of yellowed paper receipts and smudged carbon copies that I've sorted and filed. Mostly dealer services and independent BMW shops , with a bunch of Jiffy oil changes along the way He bought a new car in 2000 and the 318i wasn't driven much after that. He loaned it to friends, and used it when his other car was in the shop. Thus the car only managed to accumulate 78k miles in its 15 years with him. In February he received a letter from his HOA to get the car out of his driveway. It had been sitting with a flat tire for about 8 months. I finally convinced him to let the car go to a new, better home with me.
Its got some bumps and scrapes, and could really use a buffing, a lip and a set of basket weaves, but for now I'm just enjoying it as a great daily driver (I also have a 1998 M3).

They look more like the E21 mounts then the E28 mounts..
These are what I'm using for my M42... Been using them using I threw out my old M40B18 and replaced it with the E36 M42B18 from an 95 318ti 4 years ago...
Did you have to use any shims or anything like that? They certainly are cheap at only $10 a piece. I also like that they're from a 4 pot, I'm kinda concerned about the extra vibrations.
