I got my Osram bulbs from http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk  They ship to the US.

From what I've read in the UK Osram Silver Star are the bulbs of choice for the best illumination, or if you want a whiter light though not quite as bright then go for Philips Blue Vision (which is what I have at the mo)

Oh Zanardi in the 96-98 CART years was another great driver to watch in that vein, I remember the vancouver '97 race where he had a problem with his brakes, kept going down the escape road and having to fight his way back up throught the field again - v. entertaining, finished 4th in the end I think.

Well you should have seen how JPM drove in F3000!
Overtaking by driving down the grass on the straights at the old hockenheim, storming through the field at monaco, then getting a penalty for cutting the chicane, then trying to fight through again, ending up with a puncture and some suspension damage, broken front wing when in about 4th I think? Carrying on regardless without pitting and still managing to finish 6th with about 3 wheels on his car
Lapped the entire field in another F3000 race
Thought we had a successor to Gilles there, but I think after a short while in F1 the williams guys told him it was better to drive a car in F1 at 9/10ths and bring it home than at 11/10ths and risk crashing
An attitude thats all too prevailant in modern F1 -  that's not really racing to me, still keeps the sponsors happy i suppose :(

Jim clark ruled
The tracks may have been dangerous back then, but also some of the greatest, look at all the stale short boring track we have these days :(
I'm sure safety of racecars has moved on enough now to enable racing again on some of the old style circuits, but it'll never happen :(

Have you ever played Grand Prix Legends?

Yeah Tim sorted me out - thanks!
Part number of the caps 11 61 1 727 176 for any UK peeps, or indeed anyone out there without a charcoal canister.

i have just installed HnR 35mm springs on my Is without any other suspension mods (eibachs going on tomorrow) and the handling difference is noticable although i think could be greatly improved with the compliments of other mods (hence the ARBs). Despite this it sits at the perfect hight for a daily car.

Hows the ride height compared to mine now Dan?

Engine + Driveline / Vaccum hoses
« on: April 14, 2006, 04:09:48 PM »
This is pretty easy, I did it last w/e, got the hoses form the dealers
The hardest part is reattaching the 2 coolant hoses to underneath the throttle body
Heres a diagram

There are 2 different designs around the throttle though, so yours may not look like that, have a look at the other design on realoem.com
The pink arrow goes to the charcoal canister on US cars, its just blanked off with a rubber cap on my UK car

My fave driving CD has to be
Girls against boys - Venus Luxure No1 baby

But I listen to all sorts when driving depending on my mood

I heard e21's were actually heavier than the e30, that's one thing they improved when they built the E30 - pity they seemed to have ditched that approach on most models since.
Re the 6ycl e30's I used to have a 325i, that was quite ponderous on turn in compared to the 318is - more understeer on entry, but more oversteer on exit available too.

Driving style I used to be, well lets just say not very smooth in my driving, so I've tried to smooth things out over the years.
Yeah these engines like the high revs, they don't really do a lot below 4k, so I do tend to thrash it a lot, once warmed up
Sometimes I drive by the economy gauge, but that gets boring quite quickly!

Thanks for that, quite helpful!

Would it be part no 13.31.1.272.750 I'm after then?
It looks roughly the right diameter

hey fella. iirc correctly the upper one on mine doesn't quite look like that, but its the FPR hose. its just vacuum hose, but the BMW part no 51 73 1 257 971

Cheers Tim, but that part's a very thin hose that connects just behind the upper green spot, a hose about 1cm thick comes out of the front and on my car appears to go into the 11 15 1 721 908 bit, which has been blocked off at the back?!
I must have a 2nd one underneath that connects to the metal U bit?

Dunno what someones done there in the past

Trying to make sense of how it should all go, I've made this pic - need any corrections, and that top hose no. still

Have to start a thread on the proper zone when its back up, in the meantime, I'll link up with this one I think...

Heh, they don't look quite so good close up!

re: the side indicators, dont think they came as std in europe, but they're an MOT requirement in the uk - so UK models came with them, guess it was an easier (and better looking IMO) option than fitting the us style bumper indicators?

There are quite a lot of e30 m3's imprted from germany to the UK that have slipped through the MOT without, but sooner or later they end up having to fit them.
