Electrical / Weird Power Window Fuse Issue
« on: May 02, 2011, 10:58:26 AM »
Hey guys,

I am having an issue where I am blowing a ton of power window fuses (fuse 17?). Sometimes it happens when I use a window switch, other times, the fuse will blow the minute I turn the ignition on. Which is weird to me, because I would think that it would not be drawing power at this point. The circuit breaker in the cabin is not tripping. In fact, I have replaced it, and the problem still remains.

Not sure how to start the troubleshooting process here. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Engine + Driveline / Water Pipe Connector Broken!
« on: April 13, 2011, 05:49:10 PM »
Hey guys,
I have a 91 318i and had a major coolant loss yesterday. The shop says the Water Pipe Connector is cracked (11-53-1-714-738) and needs to be replaced. The part is around $20, but they are quoting me $700+ to take the intake manifold off an replace this part. Kinda seems ridiculous...

What have you guys paid to have this done?

Has anyone done this themselves? If so, how difficult is it and is there a write-up anywhere?

Many thanks,
Ryan

Electrical / Hello and Interesting Aux Fan Question
« on: April 05, 2008, 03:12:07 PM »
Hi, I am new to the forum.  I recently acquired a 1991 318i and love it so far.  I have an interesting Aux Fan problem that I can not seem to figure out.  The minute I start the car, regardless if the A/C is on, the Aux Fan comes on at HIGH Speed.  Having said that, I know that the fan should not come on unless the A/C is on or the car gets very hot.  I thought at first it could be the low speed resistor, but now I am not so sure.  I thought that if the resistor was bad, the fan would not come on unless the engine temp was high, and then it would come on at high speed.  Am I right? So to recap, the aux fan is on high and all times and not sure why!  Can anyone help??
