Electrical / Battery drain culprits

easy way is to watch current (amps) flow and slowly pull your fuses one by one while watching your multimeter, and when you finally find the fuse that drops your current flow to 0, your can further investigate just that one circuit!

Hi Everone!

I' guess I'll go into the basics and expand?

I'm Alex Harris, I work at a speed shop known as Barefoot Racing (theres only two of us there), and also full time at a very large car dealership (will remain un-named).

We've built numerous cars over at the shop (550+awhp stealths, my budget 300whp m50 turbo bmw, our Turbo LS1 FD Rx7 , etc etc.)

We've never ventured into most of the 4cyl stuff, until i scrambled upon a killer deal from a friend.....

Motor , Trans, Wiring harness and ecu (all accessories) for around 275.

Heres where we get interesting boys and girls. I don't have a 3 series... let alone a BMW i'm putting this powerplant in..

I have a 1976 triumph spitfire.. and she will be recieving a built m42 turbo as of this upcoming winter (the build has already started, teardown of the 300K mile m42 was last night)

No bearings scored, no rings damaged, no ridge, no imperfections at all, a good start i would say..

Will be posting pictures ASAP!

And will love working/furthering development with this platform! You guy's seem fun!

Engine + Driveline / Weak link, just HG?
« on: June 13, 2010, 12:34:03 PM »
Recently started building an M42 for a very wild project, ordering parts, but it seems aside from the HG and studs i need not order most anything else.

Where do ringlands on these let go?
Where to Rods let go?
Bearing Issues at all?
How far can you rev stock Valve Train?

All answers are appreciated guys, my guess was to run (15-20psi - 250-300whp)

With:

Je coated  8.5:1 Pistons
arp Full block hardware
mls Hg

Stock rods / (new) bearings / crank

and just tune it out...

this all sound about right?

Engine management / Megasquirt Or Other Tuning
« on: June 13, 2010, 12:30:43 PM »
I'm in the process of trying to figure out the weak link on this platform (m42)

It seems to be the tuning area i guess, people are stopping at around 6-8 psi i guess because you are running out the MAF?

Is anyone running a 15+ psi build with the stock maf, or are you all running MS?

anyone running arcII, Maf-t pro, Emanage , aem  any of those with results???

any info would be appreciated.
