General Topics / Correct crank pulley for m42 w/ DASC
« on: July 09, 2017, 06:11:41 AM »
For a 91 318is, M42 with an e36 AC, I am planning to add a DASC and I can't find the part number for the right crank pulley that has poly rubbed for the ac and v-belt for the alternator.

I thought this was it, but the ac belt should be closest to the engine and the alt should be in front.

I am essentially running a hybrid v belt and poly setup. Does someone have a part number?

How-To's / DIY - Video M42 Fuel Line Replacement
« on: September 07, 2015, 09:23:56 PM »
I put this video together to show how you can replace leaky, aging fuel lines under the intake manifold of your M42 powered car. It's also a good guide for getting to the throttle body housing gasket and upper intake manifold gasket.

Hi folks, I just posted a video on how to change oil in an M42. I know it seems basic, but I figured a lot of the newer members are...new, so this might be useful.

How much for the driver side, rear black plastic door handle trim? Its the small rectangular part that goes around the handle?

Do you still have the fan cowl and plastic undertray?

What about the battery hold down plate and long screw?

Do you still have the foot well plastic shield part? That goes above the pedals?

Driver side rear tail light?

Font lower splitter?

How is the condition of glass for the two side mirrors?

There was a video series I saw a few years back that Mobile Tradition put out, they rebuilt an Inka 2002. It was pretty nice to see.

This is fairly easy install. It helps to take the driver's seat out to get leverage getting the cable through the fire wall.

For Sale / FS: 1991 318is Brilliantrot - CA Car in NJ
« on: November 29, 2011, 04:40:35 PM »
Up for sale is a 1991 318is (E30). This car is BrilliantRot (red) and has about ~230k miles.

This car was shipped from N. California and has not seen snow. It has no rust in any of the common areas (rear tail lights, battery compartment, floor panel, quarter panel, etc.) The under body has no rust either. This car has not been registered in NJ yet. I have a clean title in hand.

The car has been dropped on new coil-over springs and the engine is in great shape. The "mess" under the intake has been performed and all hoses have been replaced. The Air conditioner works great as does the odometer. The radio is aftermarket and only plays CDs.

Exterior wise, there is a dent on the driver's door near the A pillar and the hood has a scuff/mark on the driver's side front corner. This was from the previous owner.

The engine pulls strong and the shifting feels tight. The engine has no leaks and looks amazing.

The car will need a set of tires and the front windshield will need to be replaced (~$150). It appears the front drivers side fender was replaced with a different fender. The car has a new E30 M3 steering rack and Mtech 1 steering wheel, but no power steering. Overall, she is a clean car that just needs a bit of work cosmetically.

I am asking $2,900 and the price is negotiable. I am open to offers.

Engine + Driveline / Mess under intake

Thanks guys for your help! Once I de-pressurize it, the injectors will come out right?

Engine + Driveline / Mess under intake
« on: October 23, 2011, 07:23:13 AM »
Hi Guys,

I started to tackle this and I am trying to remove the lower intake manifold but the fuel rail is still connected. I did NOT de-pressurize the fuel system and something tells me that I won't get this apart until I do. The problem is I cant start the engine with the upper intake disconnected and some of the vacuum hoses and coolant hoses apart, that will not only make a mess but I am sure is not good to run with all of this stuff apart.

Question: Is there any other way to de-pressurize the system?

Or do I have to go put everything back together, de-pressurize and then start over?
