Engine + Driveline / m42 using alot of oil

thanks for the replies . ill get a comp and leak down test done on it asap . and will report back .. ive got some money put aside for when the motor lets go .. but i dont really wanna be spending it too soon , because im also saving up for a motorsport course next year and need every cent for it.

just to give you guys an idea .. i did a oil service like 5days ago (5L), have done about maybe 124miles
(250km) . and check the dip stick last night . it was on low, so i went down to the local petrol station and bought a 1L bottle .. and it only just bearly shows on the dipstick.

i might try 10w40 regular nothing speacil oil too.

hi guys.

my e30 318is m42 engine is using alot of oil . i do alot of driving highway mostly on a weekly basis travelling to and from work / start and stop in traffic :mad:

i noticed that is uses alot of oil since from the last 2 services ive done .. im finding myslef topping up at least once each fornight. the motor has 310,000km (190000miles) on the motor doesnt blow any blue smoke. and the motor sound and runs strong.

i use 15w-60 full syn on the motor.

any ideas?

Swaps, Turbos, Buildups / M42 Turbo Manifolds

Hi Guys,

This my first post and thought I would ask the question of what Turbo manifolds are people using. I have done a lot of searching and found a number of options. I guess what im looking for is some feedback on the differnt types available out there. My 1st choice would be the 666 fab, but as im trying to make this build to a budget it might not be a possible option.

Obiviously there are the cheaper ebay options out there, has anyone had luck with these. Ie not cracking after a few months of use etc.

I have come across the OBX manifolds which seems to be ok quality, but is advertsied for e36's. Would these fit an E30 chasis?

Any help/suggestions would be much appricated..

please keep in mind the usa guys are LHD .. ours are RHD .so we have issues with the steering rack clearance. maybe a simple custom log type high mount manifold made from steam pipe might be the best solution .

Ok heres the final version of the intake.



Need to deal with vacuum, coolant and fuel hoses a bit, then i can install it.

i am curious to know why the intake was modded in this way , with the blocked pipe coming out of the intake
