Suspension / eBay spring/shock kits, anyone tried? Opinions?

Tokico HP: eBay link #1
KYB/Vogtland: eBay link #2

I'm really not into spending $1000 in total to get Bilstein, so I was looking at eBay alternatives. Any opinions other than "I don't trust this because it's on eBay"? Maybe even someone who actually got a kit? Or should I test the territory? :o

Suspension / Highway car pulling problem
« on: May 19, 2008, 07:29:38 PM »
Yeah, exactly what you guys are describing! So, it was raining today and being an immature 18 year old idiot I tried drifting around corners: once succeeded, twice succeeded, on the third time i span out and hit a curb. Again. So I went on eBay and got the kit FCP are selling with all new arms and m3 bushings, then got all new links from bavauto (added an o2 sensor with the tool and 4 emblem grommets in the package :p) and will hope it fixes the problem! Well, the handling problem... When it all comes in through the border it should cost around $500+, so don't hit curbs, guys! I'm so pissed at myself, learning the hard way... Unfortunately I will have to get at least 1 new wheel also (4 ideally) and I hope nothing major got bent or broke in the back... What could btw? What should I check for? I know for a fact the diff didn't explode cause I drove the car back home with no noise or problems! :o

Suspension / Highway car pulling problem
« on: May 16, 2008, 02:12:01 PM »
I think I saw a thread about this somewhere but couldn't find it...

The problem is on highway speeds after changing lanes the car continues pulling to the side I switched to after straightening the steering wheel. So not constantly left, for example, as if I'm in need of an alignment, but if I take the right lane it then pulls right and left lane pulls left. This continues for several seconds and to correct it I have to counter steer... I just recently changed the control arms and the tie rods, and the problem persisted.

As it doesn't look right I wonder what it might be?

Electrical / Speedometer still not working?
« on: November 01, 2007, 11:26:34 PM »
The cluster, I ordered from German eBay, has around 180k km on it and seems to work very fine. The plugs that go in the back I left the same. Plus, it never worked since I got the car, not like yours which sometimes did and sometimes didn't...

Basically, what doesn't work is the speedometer, the odometer and the mileage estimator. Every other gauge works perfectly, even the service indicator (half of things didn't work with the old cluster, so I'm still happy with the purchase).

Electrical / Speedometer still not working?

Well, the sensor definitely looks... old? The bracket holding it is pretty much just a piece of rust... The wire itself appears to have been spliced before and has electrical tape connecting all the wires together... So... Should I just change everything? :P I didn't see the wire for sale anywhere though.

I got a new cluster installed today, it's definitely working better than my previous one, but the real reason why I changed it, my speedometer not working, is not fixed...

I understand the sensor could be the problem, even though the PO said he changed it, I'll try getting a new one.

But I was wondering, could it be some cable that transmits the signal from the sensor to the speedometer itself? Anybody has experience with that cable?

Engine + Driveline / Strange noise at about 4800 RPM
« on: October 23, 2007, 09:14:19 PM »
Funny, my 1993 Ford Festiva does that at around 2k... :p

[EDIT] Forgot to mention my cooling fan doesn't work though and it's a timing belt, not chain, so I have no clue what the hell's Festie's problem lol

M42 Reference / Will this cluster fit?

eBay link

I know it's 5k, but it's cheap and rather low miles. My question is, can I replace the SI board with my new one, does it matter it's prod date is '86 and if it'll read correctly the 318is revs?

Engine + Driveline / Exhaust diameter...

You wanna install a resonator AND a cat..?

Oh and don't forget to post sound clips! ;)

Well I just got owned... I forgot that stock is 2.25"... I have 2.5" mandrel bent all the way, took the cat off and put a generic resonator 10$ and a cheap mufler (30$). The sound is... Overwhelming? But my system is cheap, so it depends on what you get... I DO think I could see a slight difference during acceleration, but it could just be a placebo effect 'cause in my head 2.5" should've made it better; I never dynoed the car.
