Fabe,

The valves are standard 7mm

The springs are PAC, recomended by Catcams. I can't remember the length, and spring rate. But I told catcams that i was planing on around 8500 RPM. They thought these springs was the way to go. But cant make any guarantees. The thing to do is to slowly increase the rpm's to your target. When they begin to float it will be seen on your dyno results. And will also most likely be heard by your ears too. And if they peak at 7500 RPM, it wont matter anyway.. :-)

...."Last spring i sold a complete set of S54 (E46 M3 Engine) Schrick race cams, with springs and DLC coated lifters to a customer. Even Schrick woulden't make any guarantees as to the RPM limit. But they proved good for 8500 RPM as expected."....

The retainers are steel, as are the lower spring pockets.

The adjusting shims (Shim under) are Schrick.

Extra adjusting shims are included

The lifters are Catcams solid lifters.

The setup are rather light (Please see my former posts in this thread)

The valves are freshly lapped

The valve seals are new also.

The valves are adjusted to spec.

I'm sure i forgot something, let me know...

A little more detail about the cams..

A long time ago i made a valve lift comparison on the Standard VS Catcams intake.

Note the soft leading and trailing ramps. These are for decelerating the valves before seating. And for taking up the valve clearance without hammering. As the cams are for mechanical operation (Not Hydraulic).

What you will se are actual valve lift figures.

Unfortunately I never got around to doing the exhausts. But the intake will give an idea on the cams.

Ive been meaning to update this, last week I sold the bottom end.

So now there's only the top end left:
 - Head (lapped valves)
 - cat cams camshafts
 - modified for mechanical operation
 - solid lifters (valves all adjusted)
 - springs, retainers
 - chain sprockets
 - dbilas individual throttle bodies

I'm asking 11.000.- Dkr for the lot (approx 2100.- usd)

I sold off some if the things listed above to be included with the head. So the price is reduced.

cecotto-I've been following your blood sweat and tears from your work and now you have to focous in another direction.  I hope everything is o.k, and also hope that you can find a really serious buyer, because your involvement for this build has been a long time in it's construction stages.  I must say that I respect and admire your determination on your builds.

Hi Dude.

Thanks for your thoughts. Things are actually going okay in general. Still got my job and my income. But i've just been realizing that the project was taking up space, but not my time. And started making some rough calculation on what it would take to finalize the engine in the spirit that I want. And i'm just not prepared for the extra spending at this point in time.

This combined with the fact that the car, that the engine was intended for is heading quietly, but steady to the sunset of it's life. Has gotten me to the decission that selling off the parts is the right thing to do. And in one to two years I dont think i'll be driving it anymore anyway. This hurts a little as I really like the car, and has gotten attached to it through the years (Close to ten now).

But it's my decission, and if I dont follow it. I'm sure I'll just have the parts stashed up in a couple of years time from now anyway.

However I would like to see how much power the eventual buyer (If any will come forward) will make of the parts. All this said, it actually kind of hurts to sell them off. It feels a little like a failure. I was pretty dedicated and focused at one time.

Pricing for the top end:

First, whats it worth if you were to purchase it new:
-------------------------------------------------------
Camshaft kit (Cams, lifters, springs, spring retainers) = 12.547.- DKR
Valve adjustment shims (Approx. 30 pcs. including spares) = 1050.- DKR
dbilas individual throttlebody kit = 10.810.- DKR
-------------------------------------------------------
Total market value = 24.407.- DKR (Plus sales tax)
Approx. 4710.- USD (Plus sales tax)
-------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------

I'm asking 13.000.- DKR (2480.- USD) for the lot.

This is including the following:
 * Cylinderhead (With cams all shimmed up)
 * Waterpump
 * Almost every new bolt, and nut for the engine.
 * All new guides for the chain.
 * Cam chain
 * sprockets for the cams (Intake + exhaust)
 * I'll include the new Oilpump too

Also available, another spare cylinderhead for 6mm valves. Will sell this for 600.- USD

Again, the buyer will have to pay the shipping. will calculate when I have a serious buyer.

All payment will be in the Danish kroner currency, so the USD ammounts is dependant on the actual exchange rate

Pricing on the bottom end:

I have used this approach to set a price:

First, whats it worth if you were to purchase it new:
-------------------------------------------------------
Crank: 3920 DKR (Plus 1125.- DKR in deposit) = 5046.- DKR
Rods: 5100.- DKR (Plus 1260.- DKR in NM088 bolt upgrade = 6360.- DKR
JE Pistons, with lightweight pins (CR: 11:1): 3500.- DKR
------------------------
Total market value: 14906.- DKR (Plus sales tax)
Approx.: 2877.- USD (Plus sales tax)
-------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------

I'm asking 8500.- DKR (Approx.: 1700.- USD) for the lot, and will include the bearings.

But the buyer will have to pay the shipping, will calculate when I have a serious interest.

Also I have a brand new ARP rod bolt streatch guage (Billet style, part number: 100-9942),
I Will include this for another 800.- DKR (Approx. 155.- USD)

how much for the crank?

Hi.

I kind of think that the crank natually goes with the rods, pistons, sprocket, flange, damper and pulley.

I would like to give it a couple of months, to see if a buyer for a more complete set of parts emerges.

Also, in a couple of days i'll try and set some prices on the parts.

Up for sale:

I have lost interest in the project, and has shifted my attention to other things. So I have decided to sell off what I have accumulated.

Here you have a list:
 * Crank, All modified and ready to go (Included: Vibration damper + attachment parts all balanced with the crank)
 * Pistons, Custom JE
 * Rods, Catcams with Northbridge Motorsport NM88 bolts
 * Throttle bodies, dBilas purpose built.
 * Complete cylinderhead, with the cams, lifters and all. (Mechanical operation) All shimmed up and ready to go. With a collection of spare shims.
 * Complete new chain, guides nuts and bolts
 * Water pump, oil pump
 * Spare Cylinderhead with 6mm valve stems.
 * Engine block, honed and ready to be assembled.
 * 86mm Headgasket (But not complete gasket set.)
 * Oilpump housing to engine block gasket.
 * Rod bolt stretch guage (ARP), for precice and accurate tensioning of the critical rodbolts.

I have not yet thought of a reasonable pricing. But I will take offers. Preferably on the whole lot.

I have shared many details about the parts in the thread. So have a look through it instead of asking too many questions thats already answered in detail.

I will ship all over the world, but will only calculate shipping costs when I have a serious buyer. But should not be too redicolous if the engine block is omitted

Thanks for your time.

Photoshop, Media, & Artwork / In-car cam mount!

I really think that would be deadly in an accident.

I like the idea, but theres got to be a better way, without a metal spike pointing directly at your head. In an accident you will be tossed around, regardless of wearing a seatbelt. The standard seatbelt does not give much sideways restraint for the upper body

General Topics / Slide Throttle
« on: February 20, 2009, 06:06:27 PM »
I'm not sure I ever heard that the slides should have poor throttle response.

I've always been of the understanding that the "problem", which i would prefer to call tradeoff is the throttle modulation.

But on a racecar spending it's time on full throttle this tradeoff might just be worth it.
