Interior / e90 seats in an e30...done...
« on: August 26, 2010, 11:49:30 AM »
$250 for the seats, $150 for brackets (though in retrospect I could have done that for $25) and $25 for hardened bolts.  Yeah, I wanted a factory look.

Just got done dropping these in.  Very nice fit, and they look like brand new.

Exterior / Front air dam repair

Great, thanks.  I wasn't sure if I wanted to even start tearing into it unless I knew there weren't any welds.

Exterior / Front air dam repair

Does anyone have details on repairing the front air dam?  My lip spoiler is fine, but the metal part under the bumper is bent up a little.  Does anyone know if it's a bolt-on body part, or if it's welded?

Exterior / Door Hinge Repair Kit
« on: March 31, 2010, 11:10:10 AM »
I just did it on the passenger side, very simple.  The new hinge is a little stiff, so it takes some coaxing to get the pin out, but not bad.

Suspension / Steering rack adjustment?
« on: March 18, 2010, 02:39:26 PM »
Is there any adjustment on the 318is (e30) steering rack?  My steering wheel has some play, and I looked at the linkage while turning the wheel, and it doesn't appear to be the steering guibo or linkage.

I've seen a lot of steering racks where there was an adjustment screw and lock nut, but can't see it on this car.

Searched but didn't see anything.

Ideas?

Interior / Stock speaker size?
« on: February 18, 2010, 11:46:31 AM »
Did a search but didn't see any response.  What is the stock speaker size for my 91 318is front and rear?  Are they 5.25" or 6.5" or something else?  Thanks.

Stock exterior, H&R OE Sport Springs w/Koni shocks, possible swaybars, new control arms, M3 bushings, subframe busings, rear control arm bushings.

I like the 14" factory wheels, so I'll stick with them for now, most 15" wheels are significantly heavier so the 14's with good suspension is a nice setup.  I might eventually get some Ronal LS wheels if I can find them, but I'm not in any rush.

Interior just the Momo steering wheel and a shift knob, that's it.  Get a radio that looks decent and works with an iPod.

I like mine to look purposeful but non-molested.

Suspension / KYB shocks

You can get a set of Bilstein Touring Class for only $225, not much more for a solid performer.  Work great on non-lowered cars.

Missed my old red 318is so much I had to get another one.  Just picked it up:

Original owner, 155k miles, receipts from day 1, original paint, no major accidents.  Needs: cold idle fix, complete suspension overhaul, a little love.
