Learning to drive properly will allow you to reap great benefits. Jim C chip and a s3.73 diff would be two great mods.

Engine + Driveline / Yet another Timing Chain Tensioner Post!

nice that you are keeping it up, PO let my m42 sit in a field for a 2 year, i had 4 bolt come off the lower oil pan, it was spilling oil everywhere, it is defiantly a weak point on the motor, good that you are going to check it out.

Engine + Driveline / Diff swap
« on: July 17, 2007, 11:39:47 AM »
some if not all ti's came with s4.27's they bolt right up in a m42 but gearing is way to high it is awesome if you wanna race, but as soon as you get on the highway your pocket will hurt.

best diff's for the m42 (in my opinion) 1. s3.91  2. s3.73  3. 4.10

Site and club discussion / Keychains and Lanyards
« on: June 29, 2007, 09:22:41 AM »
I don't really like the key chain that much, I don't like extra clutter.  A lanyard would be cool because it would be practical for me to use.

On another note I don't think there is enough interest to bring back the shirts for a re-print this fall, so I will probably wait until end of the winter to do it again.  However, if enough people want them I can do another run in the fall. So if you see this and are interested PM me.

General Topics / My 2 Big Problems
« on: May 28, 2007, 11:51:24 AM »
1) Just replaced my o2 sensor a month ago OE Bosch.  Everything was fine. Now in the past few days I have a weak startup, and terrible throttle response at times. Plugs and wires are fairly new. New (cheapo) fuel filter. I check the fault code and it gave me a 1221 (o2 code.) Can my sensor really go bad like that? Any other suguestions.

2) 2nd gear is terrible when I downshift into it from 3rd at speeds greater than 30mph (bad clutch or tranny).  Also rarely I get a grind in 1st when i take off.  What do you think?

Engine + Driveline / Engine feels sluggish

Cheap O2 sensor found HERE, interesting price compared to $100+ on every other site...

Does anyone have more info on the vacuum lines to change? Pelican sells a lot of different ones HERE.

that is a universal o2 so you have to splice some wires. if you get a OE one which is like $108 from fap99 there is no splicing.  I have known of many m42s with bad o2 so it is a good thing to change.

as for the vacuum line look through your engine and find the ones with the most cracking and replace them 1st :)
