« on: December 16, 2010, 06:50:04 PM »
I also have the E36 m42 in my  E30, replacing a M40.. it clears both the hood and the stock brake booster..using the M20 engine mounts  (the tall ones) and M40 e30 brackets

Suspension / Cutting front springs

I heated & cut both front and rear but i went way low, 2.5 coils as I can remember(on 17'' u couldnt see the tires on the rear) I ll c if i still have a photo or so ,the ride was too hard for my taste, and when I replaced it with  HRs after a year or so I found both rear springs cracked

Engine + Driveline / 3.91 or 4.10 lsd?
« on: January 18, 2010, 08:11:26 AM »
I have the 4.45  in my e30 , and believe me its too short for a daily driven car ,1st gear is useless, although it pulls like a maniac, but u d never be able to get to it to go side ways in 1st   for example its too short ,and the rev limiter will be your friend
Dunno about Autox But i shall know soon :D

thanks for sharing

i ve used the e36 exhaust mani, and the Y shapped tube which i had to heat to adapt it in that tight space , not that hard  ...but again my car is LHD :)

Engine management / 7500 rpm German chip
« on: September 11, 2009, 08:11:58 AM »
thnks boyracer for your infos, do u have any dyno graphs, this is my daily but i do some street racing, i have a 4.45 final drive ratio .. and it is too short for street racing,
how does your midrange felt, did u feel any drop in power above 7000rpm?
i m really thinking wither to go to a longer gear ratio + pro formance chip or to get this chip and see how things turn out ..

need to know more about your RRFPR is it 8:1 or 12:1
what fuel are you using .. 91 octane?

i have it on my e30... and it pulls really hard in every gear .. i dont even have to shift down sometimes while passing others.. but it really sucks on highways ..top speed 125 on 14"basket weaves with 185/65   and it over heats if i stayed there for a while . really sucks if u ask me .. the only thing that made me use it , is the fact that i m going to autox my car.... but i m seriously thinking to go for something lower ... where i can hit 60 in sec gear ..

What mod's do you have done to the valve train that will play 7500Rpm ??

around 6900 rpm on stock internals(m42) the valves begin to float... Unless you have upgrades it's asking for surious trouble

i ve done nothing but somehow my engine rev limiter is 7000 rpm ( i dont know why)but i havent faced any trouble (thank god till know)
i have seen ludiagsm reving his engine up to 8500 with a rebuilt bottom end but a completely stock head ...
plus mark d chip claims it increases the rev limiter to 7100 ...
i also had to get into a megasquited m42 while tuning it on the streets and they set the rev limiter to 7200 and they hit it alot !!
not sure about the 7500 but i m whiling to take my chances :D
